There Is Help For Your Misguided Child

Written by Mark Sampson, Posted on , in Section Hero Featured

Today, there is an epidemic of young adults with diminutive ambition still living at home with their parents. This rampant issue is commonly known in our culture today as “failure to launch.” There are obviously different degrees of this common failure – or degrees of launch if you’d prefer. Some young adults living in this easy-does-it lifestyle may not even have a job, a significant other, or may not even be enrolled in college.

Enabling Unproductive Behavior

Troubled young adults that fail to leave the house after high school are usually failing simply because the parents are enabling the unproductive behavior. It is common for this parent to feel guilt, shame, and even fear about confronting the child regarding this fiasco. Young men and women that have zero aspirations will choose to stay at home simply because life is more convenient there. They will feel completely content to stay living with their parents in their home, rent free, possibly for the rest of their lives.

In Desperate Need Of Help

Unless there are circumstances of special needs or learning disabilities, these young men and women that have "failed to launch" are simply ill-prepared, fearful, and are in desperate need of help. Successful adulthood requires skills, education, work ethic, and ambition. Much of the time, these misguided young adults may be struggling with an addiction, or may simply need of a geographical change of scenery and friends.
