Written by Brett BrostromPosted on

As we go through life, we hopefully try and improve ourselves as people. Usually, we get help with this process from family and friends, but sometimes people we don't know offer the best advice we ever get. Here are 17 quick tips from reddit users to keep in mind.

Worrying about some things just isn't worth the energy.

2. /u/Santa_on_a_stick

This is so true. We compare our worst with other people's best and it leads to some bad feelings. Don't do this.

3. /u/bungle123

Again, it just isn't worth the energy. Arguing rarely solves anything.

4. /u/bacontern

Take 5 seconds to think about what you're about to do or say before you do it. It will make a huge difference in your life.

5. Just some good old fashioned wisdom.

If you can't fix it, why bother?

Some people just don't mesh well. It doesn't matter if it's a personal or romantic relationship, sometimes things just dont' work out with certain people.

Nobody is perfect. Nobody ever will be perfect. So put your efforts towards improving yourself, instead of worrying about what you aren't.

Some parents forget this. Look around you and you'll see this every day.

9. /u/some_garmin_guy

Speaking negatively about the flaws in other people is childish. Talk instead about the good you see in people.

10. /u/Jakeofob

This doesn't only fall into the music category. There are hidden gems in places you would have never thought to look.

11. /u/lazyathlete

It's never too late to start on your dreams.

12. /u/MaleficUnicorn

Full quote: "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are in the moment."

13. /u/HighRulerStarch

If you're going to commit to something, put your best foot forward and always put your all into everything that's important to you.

14. /u/friendzone_ho

If it wasn't meant to be, it wasn't meant to be.

15. These are actually lyrics from a song called "Goodnight, Fair Lady" by a band named Coheed and Cambria.

This is just common sense anyways.

16. /u/awan001

Sometimes, acheiving our dreams takes time.

Don't mistake local cloud cover for general darkness.
