This Powerful Video On Depression By Deepika's Foundation Will Leave You Asking: "Am I doing Everything I Can For My Depressed Loved One?"
Watching a loved one suffer from depression is heartwrenching, and perhaps, harder than dealing with depression, yourself. Despite wanting nothing more than to relieve a loved person from the seemingly inescapable grasp of depression, many us remain at a loss. However, although 'being there' for a depressed person you love is difficult, starting a discussion with them is paramount to their recovery.
The Live Love Laugh Foundation is urging people to begin a discussion about depression. They state, " Each of us has a responsibility to be sensitive, engage with anyone who goes through a dark period of their life by listening, reaching out, helping and being there. This is an attempt to stay true to the cause in the purest possible way."
Sure, when someone we love remains silent when asked about how they are feeling, the logical thought might be just to leave them alone. Why wouldn't it be? If something were truly bothering them, they would simply tell me, right? Well, unfortunately, those who suffer tend to hide their suffering from the outside world and simply respecting a loved one's request to be left alone may result in tragic consequences.
