Why Would Young Adults Believe That Illegal Drugs Can Help Them

The mind of an addict is a mysterious puzzle that can take years to unravel.

Illegal drugs are illegal for a reason, they have severe effects if not managed responsibly.  So why on earth would any young adult believe that these horrible substances could possibly help them?

Young adults take drugs because they want to change something in their lives.  They imagine, incorrectly, that drugs are a solution.  Eventually, they all find out that drugs become the problem.  Young adults believe that by taking illegal drugs they are enhancing their creativity, or elevating their life in some way, and for a time, they might actually believe this.  They experience a euphoric high that is indescribable, but then they crash.  Every user crashes, and they crash harder and harder each and every time until the drug has destroyed everything there was about the person.  It is never too early to start thinking about getting help.

Lion’s Gate Recovery boasts one of the top residential drug and alcohol rehab programs on the West Coast.  With a highly skilled therapeutic staff Lion’s Gate provides an intensive living environment where a young adult can get the assistance they need to overcome their addiction.

The importance of differentiating medicines and illegal drugs.

Medicines are drugs that when used as directed can change something about how your body is working.  These are tried and tested, dosages are applied to achieve specific results.  Illegal drugs rarely, if ever have beneficial medicinal properties that cannot be achieved through safer substances.  This is compounded by the fact that Young Adults have no idea what a recommended dose for Cocaine or Meth might even be.  Taking more of a prescribed medication than intended can have just as damaging consequences.
