Behavior Problems in Children
All children have times when they misbehave, however some children have behavior problems. When children have behavior problems they go beyond normal to patterns of hostility, and aggression. Behavior problems are seen in adolescents as interpersonal and social problems. Often times these behavior problem receive diagnosis of (ADHD) attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, Conduct disorder, Oppositional defiant disorder. Behavior disorders often require diagnosis from a physician or professional.
Warning Signs of behavior problems
- Threats of harming themselves or others
- Lying and manipulation
- Stealing
- Struggling academically
- Smoking, drinking or drug use
- Damaging property
- Premature sexual activity
- Hostility toward authority
Signs of these or other extremes may be a cry for help. Children with behavior problems often struggle in school, and become at-risk adolescence. To avoid potential problems parents should maintain communication and educate themselves on normal or abnormal behavior.
