Adolescents wasting time with today's technology using computers, TV, portable MP3 players, DVD, Gameboys, e-mail, Facebook, etc has hit an all time high. While many teens spend time watching television, playing video games or surfing on the web, other adolescents use technology in productive ways. Technology has its definite advantages and it also has problems of abuse.
Classroom teachers are using technology in the classroom more frequently than ever before. Students who are pro's with technology perform very high on standardized tests. However technology can potentially hurt a student's academic pursuits if technology is used inappropriately.
Moderation is the Key to Avoid Problems Associated with Technology
In reference to the use of technology, parents must be aware of the potential hindrances technology can bring to the learning process. The best practice is moderation. Parents need to monitor the amount of time their child uses technology in every area of their lives. Moderation is the key to avoiding the problems associated with the abuse of technology.
