I've Got My Eyes On You

For those who do not live with their partner, many of them resort to using social media accounts to keep tabs on what their partner is up to. It is very common for both partners to use social media to check up on someone they used to date, even when they themselves have new partners. Couples look at one another’s social media to see what they are currently up to – were they really out with the boys? – or to gain more insight before committing to a relationship. These social media accounts also make dating less exciting, since people can find a date for the evening in just a few seconds with the myriad dating apps available on cellphones. For example, over 12 million Young adults regularly use the Tinder dating application.

While this may sound convenient, social media can actually cause many problems in relationships, ranging From jealousy to infidelity, as research has shown. But to the young men and women of the 21st century, these issues are not only expected, but completely normalized. And, like other generations, they will shift into newer dating trends that will be completely natural to another set of dating young women and men.
