Why Do Some Young Adults Not Seem To Care About Consequence

As a parent you try to teach your children about consequences. Some of them are natural consequences, while others may be imposed. They need to know that if they touch a hot stove they are going to get burned. It is one thing to possess the cognitive ablity to understand consequences, yet completely baffling when consequences seem to be ignored. What do you do when your child is old enough to understand consequences, yet continues to ignore them? You may be a bystander to a train wreck waiting to happen. A child who says he doesn't care, may be trying to avoid getting consequences. There may also be underlying issues like depression that need to be addressed.
