When To Stop Letting Teens Learn By Making Their Own Mistakes

When your chlid was an infant you didn't think twice about making them wear a seatbelt. And when they were two years old you didn't care how much they wanted to run out into the road, you would not permit it. Somewhere between two and the teen years, you have slowly let go of controlling all of the decisions your teen makes. You believe as a parent, you need to let them learn to fly so that when they leave the nest they're prepared. However, as you watch them make mistakes you have to wonder if they are really ready to make some decisions on their own.  Maybe you should step back and make their decisions for them.
