New Super Drug in Florida Is Highly Addictive and It's Killing Teens

There is a new type of "super drug" that is sweeping the streets of Florida. You've probably never heard of it, but the unremarkably named U-477700 is a drug that all parents of teenagers should know. Dubbed a "super drug," u-47770 first started popping up in Florida. With no real medical use, the powerful drug is psychoactive in nature and potentially fatal.

“It’s causing psychotic disorders like we’ve never seen before,” said Tommy Lloyd, program director at Springs Recovery Center. “It’s causing people to completely lose a sense of reality.”

The Psychoactive Drug Has Been Linked to Teenage Deaths in Florida

The psychoactive nature of the drug isn't the only thing that has Florida parents up at night. U47770 is linked to nine deaths in the Sunshine State where teenage users can't seem to keep their hands off it. It's no mystery as to why users are hooked as U47770 is cheaper than heroin and eight times more potent than morphine.

Dr. Joshua Stephany, a medical examiner for Orange and Osceola counties, says, "The drug is a concern because it’s cheap, costing only $40 a gram, and it’s eight times stronger than morphine. It’s a depressant; it depresses your respiratory system, your breathing slowly stops.”

What's worse? Users can purchase the super drug from virtually anywhere in a variety of different forms including powder, capsules, and even nasal spray.

Parents of Troubled Teens, Be Aware!

While Florida is the only state to report U-47770 related deaths,  it is only a matter of time before the rest of the country is swept up in yet another drug epidemic. Like the unregulated drugs before it, such as spice and bath salts, online presence is sure to push the popularity of U-47770.

U-47700 is the latest superdrug invading Florida, and you’ve probably never heard of it. Unlike other drugs, it has no medical use.
“It’s causing psychotic disorders like we’ve never seen before,” said Tommy Lloyd, program director at Springs Recovery Center. “It’s causing people to completely lose a sense of reality.”

The drug is synthetic and cannot cure any disease. But it does have a high potential for abuse and is responsible for nine deaths in the Sunshine State, including one in Orange County.

“I believe it was young man in his 20s found unresponsive in his home,” said Dr. Joshua Stephany, the medical examiner for Orange and Osceola counties.
