One Day at a Time: Helping Teens Find Lifelong Relief From Addiction

When dealing with teen addiction, professional help is of the utmost importance. Any form of addiction will have an incredibly low recovery rate when there is no professional intervention. Please remember this when making decisions about how to deal with your child's substance abuse issues. As a parent, I know that it can be difficult to send your son or daughter away from home to find help, but this is the only way to ensure their long-term well being. Please don't let your feelings get in the way of making the best decision possible for the future of your child. Find the help and support that can get them through their substance abuse.

My Daughter Was A Heroin Addict Before 18

No parent ever thinks that their child is going to develop a heroin problem while they're still in high school. I was just like every other parent, I knew my daughter had some problems but I never imagined that things could have gotten this bad. I had my eyes opened one afternoon when I was putting her car registration in her glove compartment. Sitting right there was small plastic bag holding heroin. I couldn't believe my eyes. At first I didn't know what to do, but I realized that I was going to need to confront her about this discovery. At first she denied that it was hers, blaming it on her friends but eventually she admitted that it belonged to her.

I was devastated and felt as if I had failed as a parent. At first I was lost as to how to proceed but luckily, my wife found a program that specialized in teenage substance abuse. They day we had to send our daughter away was one of the most difficult in my life but I knew it was necessary for her recovery. My girl has now been clean for over two years and your teen can have the great same results.
