My Teen Used To Worship Me Now She Barely Acknowledges Me

A grandmother told her daughter she was supposed to be in her "Golden Years," but after living a long life, she now believed her Golden Years had been as a young mother. She explained it was a time when her children were young and her life was peaceful. At the time, it seemed that struggling with young children was a trial, but looking back she remembers her children as sweet, innocent, and unblemished from the harshness of life. Most importantly, her children listened to everything she said and if Mom said it, it was true. Her daughter expressed her feelings of frustration as she said she felt the same way when her children were little. But now that they were teens, she felt she had lost total control to influence their decisions and choices.
