Posted on , in Section Teens & Tweens

Sexuality is a confusing issue in troubled teens during adolescence. Gay teenagers may feel conflicted as to when they should reveal their sexuality to their friends and family members. They may feel as though they may be ostracized by others for their sexuality. What parents need to remember is that, no matter what, their student needs their support and love. .

Coming Out of The Closet and Troubled Teens

Parents should, at all time, be understanding of their students and what they are going through. Confusion about sexuality and identity can lead to problems down the road. Adolescence is a time where most students are severely lacking in clarity in many different issues. Parents should be there to guide their troubled teens through this tough time in their lives. When guidance is lacking in the lives of adolescents, teenagers often get involved in things like unhealthy sexual behavior. Promiscuity in adolescence can have many long lasting effects, and teenagers should be aware of the consequences and guided to act in a positive manner.

Coming out of the closet can be intimidating for anyone, especially teenagers. Teenagers expeirience much pressure during adolescence for many different reasons, and coming to terms with their sexuality can be a major one. Parents, be there for your adolescents. If they can feel secure in their own homes and feel as though their parents truly care about them, the chances of them getting involved in negative behavior is significantly lower.
