I Dont Know Whats True Anymore - Raising Teens and Losing Track of Reality

Are you a parent who is concerned about whether or not you have a troubled teen? Does your boy or girl show behaviors that may be a cry for help? Maybe you have a kid who wants nothing to do with you and is continually rebellious, defiant and disrespectful to adults, especially authority figures. Maybe you don't know what's true anymore or how to help your family. If your child is having problems which are causing negative conduct and if these problems continue, your child will not develop into a happy successful adult. These problems are beyond the normal issues that all adolescents face or they could be the inability to deal with the normal issues that young people face. How do you know if your kid really needs help?

Checklist for Struggling Teens

Spends most of his time alone in his bedroom or on the computer
Has no interest in doing anything with the family
Chronically defiant and will not apologize for obvious bad behavior
Destructive and often puts himself/herself in danger
Violent to others
Engages in criminal activity like stealing
Find humor in other's discomfort
Getting bad grades
Experimenting with drugs or alcohol
Extreme mood swings
Lying and avoiding all consequences
Volatile temper
Fails to comply with rules
Intense sadness
Becomes secretive
Loss of interest in activities
Sudden change in peers
Avoids positive friendships
Openly displays rebellion

Parenting Adolescents Can Seem Like an Impossible Task

All adolescents can show these signs at different times, however, when there are more than six of these warning signs present you will know you are dealing with a troubled teenager. Parenting a difficult child can seem like an impossible task, and young people who are involved in any of these behaviors are in need of help, but parents can help their struggling kids to become successful by getting the help they need before their poor conduct gets out of hand.
