Dreyfuss plays Dr. Leo Marvin, a renowned psychiatrist treating his patient, "Bob", played by Bill Murray. Dr. Leo is full of himself, egotistical, and self absorbed. Dr. Marvin is promoting his book, "Baby Steps", while Bob becomes the nightmare patient from hell. Dr. Marvin loses his mind and starts a new therapeutic approach known as "death therapy".
