The Undeniable Power of Confidence

Written by Elevations RTC, Posted on

Younger fans might think that Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer that ever lived, but anyone who really knows the sports realizes that title is already taken.

Jack Nicklaus was the most dominate golfer to ever play the game, and years after retiring he still holds the record for most major championships wins with 18. However, despite his past greatness, now that Nicklaus is in is mid 70's most people would probably have said that he has nothing left to show us. His heyday is past. But this video shows that this just isn't true. Check out this video and see Jack Nicklaus amaze a crowd with no hesitation at all.

Nicklaus Is Demonstrating The Power Of Confidence

On the surface, this video is amazing simply because of the difficulty of the putt Nicklaus makes. However, while this is certainly an incredibly difficult putt, the real value of what this video displays is much deeper. When Nicklaus walks up to Miller's ball and prepares to take the putt, he is on television and in front of hundreds of people. Missing at this point would be embarrassing, particularly after telling another golfer that he shouldn't be chipping from that spot. Despite this, he doesn't even hesitate. You can tell that he is so confident in his abilities that he never even considers the possibility that he might miss. He doesn't even take much time to line up his shot. He fully believes it's going in before he ever swings.

While we all can't be the world's greatest golfer, we can still learn from this example of the power of believing in yourself. Self-confidence can allow you to accomplish things that would seem impossible if you stopped and thought about what could potentially go wrong. We should all strive to be more like Jack Nicklaus. Humble, but utterly confident in our ability to do what we set out to do.
