Havenwood Academy, a Residential Treatment Center in Southern Utah, specializes in treating teen girls experiencing Reactive Attachment Disorder. Oscar Fakahua
Program Director
As the program director at Havenwood Academy Oscar Fakahua is dedicated to the advancement of youth through the development and implementation of organized, engaging and innovative group activities and program-wide lessons. Oscar has been able to work with youth in several different facilities throughout Southern Utah, helping them overcome challenges and providing motivational support. He attended Southern Utah University where he earned his degree in Sociology. Oscar also enjoys football and coaching sports. The years he spent as team captain and coach for various teams have influenced his leadership style and helped him become a sought-after motivational speaker. Oscar prides himself in being skilled at recognizing individual student/staff needs and adapting program-wide goals to meet those needs, resulting in enhanced self-esteem and personal student and staff success.
Linda Reeves, LCSW
Clinical Director
Linda received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Southern Utah University in 2009 and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Utah in 2014. Linda is passionate about mental health therapy and specializes in Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) and EMDR trauma focused therapy. Linda’s experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults. She also works with families to help heal and grow their relationships. Linda has experience in treating Reactive Attachment Disorder, trauma, anxiety disorders, ADHD, mood disorders, grief and loss, and issues with interpersonal functioning and communication. She loves to work with a team to help individuals succeed and enjoys working with clients and their families for the whole person approach.

I am a Havenwood Academy graduate and I have nothing but amazing and beautiful things about this program. First I'd like to state to the parents reading this review, this program works if you allow the blessings and help that comes from the therapist, peers, staff, administration and equine therapy program into your life.... I can say with 100% confidence that this program works if you allow it to. It changes lives and brings family back together. I was a student at Havenwood Academy. Before this, I had completely loss my sense of self and purpose. I had struggled with severe depression and PTSD from trauma I had previously endured. I needed healing, and I needed it soon. Havenwood Academy provided me a way to heal myself from the inside out. All the wonderful staff there helped me to feel safe and loved. It truly is a family, and no one ever made me feel like I wasn't welcome. Being away from home for that year was truly a blessing, and I left stronger than ever before. We were at a dead end with our 15 year old adoptive daughter. She has Reactive Detachment Disorder, ADHD, self harming and was struggling with the fact she was adopted. She was not going to school, being very defiant and disrespectful. Basically out of control!
My wife found Havenwood after several hours of on line searches for places that might be able to help her. They were very helpful during the whole fact finding time and gave us all the information we needed to make an informed decision (including what our insurance would do). I had always had problems with reactive detachment disorder since I was 7 months old. I was at a lost getting into trouble not really obeying my parents being disrespectful. My parents were at a loss also. That is till they found Havenwood Academy. I went there against my will but little did I know that they were going to help me so much. They had staff that love,care and support you. Not only did they say it they showed it. Even though I was not very happy about going to Havenwood at first by the end I was thankful that I had gone. Daughter's POV: Before Havenwood I was struggling with substance abuse, anorexia, BPD, abuse trauma, and I had tried comitting suicide several times. I was lost in a dark world and felt that I had no hope of escaping it. I was sent to Havenwood against my will by my parents. After 11 months of therapy and treatment I had found God, deveopled healthy relationships and trust with my family, and regained control of my life. We moved our daughter out of Havenwood on 12/27/17 after her being there for 10 months and it was a very negative experience at Havenwood overall and here are a few reasons:
1. They falsely advertise their program on their website and in their parent welcome letter after admission to the program. Whatever you read on their site, do not believe it.
- There is no music therapy, no art therapy, no recreation therapy, no outdoor therapy, no access to a gym and no regular fitness routine, no rock climbing, very few outings and extracurricular events (going on a drive is the highlight of the weekend), non-existent nutrition program (will discuss further below), their staff are...
